The Freesmith Video player is a convenient, sleek and easy to use media player that operates with both Blu-ray and standard video file types. The file is fairly small for a media player 8.5 MB and possesses multiple features that many media players lack such as hotkeys, a built-in screenshot device and even a variety of codecs for optimal viewing pleasure. The Freesmith Video Player also has some lesser known functions that make it stand out compared to media players, such as the ability to rotate the screen or crop out certain parts during viewing.

The Freesmith video player does a better job than most media players in hiding the controls and allowing the viewer a true immersive movie experience. The Freesmith video player boasts full subtitle support and even a built-in screenshot function, but perhaps the biggest feature that the Freesmith video player offers is its support of Blu-Ray discs. This feature, along with the minimalist user interface, easily beats out competitors such as the default windows media player. Along with the Blu-Ray features, the Freesmith media player comes with built-in codecs, something the Windows media player sorely lacks. The ease of downloading the program and automatically having access to a variety of movie file types makes this media player a particularly alluring choice. The Freesmith video player's various useful features allow for optimal viewing pleasure.

Perhaps the greatest drawback to the Freesmith video player is the load times and overall wait for the media player to match its full capacity. Users complain that it can be laggy at times and lacks user friendliness. Having a high-end computer makes the program a breeze to manage, but those who are running on older machines may experience frustration with the software's function. Getting used to the player itself can be counter-intuitive and tricky, especially when it comes to familiarizing yourself with the controls during full-screen mode. All in all, the Freesmith media player is a piece of software for those who have the means to view media at its highest quality, and less so a tool for more casual computer users.
